Number of visitors up 15% at March Fair

Fair organiser UBM Asia has revealed a year-on-year increase of 15% in the total number of visitors at the March 2010 edition of Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair, held from 3 to 6 March at Halls 3 and 6 of AsiaWorld-Expo.

"This inspiring figure for quality visitors, who placed volume orders, confirms to us that the industry is becoming more active and that the world economy is on the mend," said Celine Lau, director of jewellery fairs at UBM Asia.

The Fair recorded over 4,150 trade visitors from 83 countries and regions, with over 70% coming from overseas. The top ten visiting countries and regions (excluding Hong Kong and mainland China) were United States, Australia, Japan, Spain, Korea, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, France and India. As for exhibitors, around 300 companies from 15 countries and regions came to showcase their latest Autumn/Winter collections.

Ms Lau added, "Many of our visitors and exhibitors have signalled their plans to participate in the March Fair again next year. Their active participation reaffirms the importance of the Fair in the fashion jewellery and accessories industry. The results are very encouraging."

"This is the first time we have joined the March Fair. The traffic was pretty good; buyers were from many different countries. We are pleased we met and received orders from a number of buyers from the Middle East, Asia and Europe. We are satisfied with the results," said George Qi, director of S.H.E Jewellery Pty Ltd in Australia.

"I think the March Fair is perfectly timed. It is one of the most important fairs in the industry; I could find all I needed at competitive prices. The organiser runs the Fair very well, and the venue is easily accessible. I will definitely come again next year," commented Gali Lee, director of Leethal Fashion Accessories.
