New moves, new plans for June Fair

This June, Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair will take place at its former venue, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 24 to 27 June. The earlier expansion of the venue has meant a larger exhibiting area, able not only to house the June Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair, but also the fashion jewellery and accessories exhibitors once again, including pavilions such as those from mainland China, India, Korea, Spain, Taiwan and the Philippines.

Following the relocation, the organiser looks forward to an even richer mix of visitors in the future. "As the organiser of the Fair, we always endeavour to explore new markets for exhibitors. Apart from the emerging markets, we are going to commence visitor promotion efforts in the frontline markets like Romania, Slovenia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam," Celine Lau, director of jewellery fairs at UBM Asia, said.

Given that there is economic recovery, she believes suppliers and buyers will be more confident in research and development, and in launching new collections. Therefore, high-end fashion jewellery will maintain its niche as long as the costs for fine metals and fine jewellery continue to soar.

Last but not least, the world's top-notch crystal manufacturers – Swarovski from Austria, Asfour from Egypt and Preciosa from the Czech Republic – will be seen gracing the upcoming glittering June Fair.
