Major trade platform reassured at June AFJ

The June edition of Asia's Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair (AFJ) 2009 ran from 18 to 21 June at Halls 3, 5, 6 and 7 of AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) in Hong Kong. It drew 4,200 buyers from 83 countries and regions, of which over 60% came from outside Hong Kong.

Celine Lau, director of jewellery fairs at UBM Asia Ltd, commented, "To buyers, the June AFJ is the most vibrant marketplace, showcasing all kinds of competitively priced fashion jewellery, accessories and materials. This is key to the Fair's success and it is what makes buyers return each year."

Major highlights of the Fair included the "Product Display," which showcased a variety of accessories such as scarves, handbags, headwear, fashion watches and hair accessories from exhibitors; and the Holistic Jewellery Platform held by CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements, where top-notch cuts, novel stones and colours, and trends were introduced, along with a display of exceptional designer pieces.

"As the organiser, we are dedicated to helping exhibitors generate as many business opportunities as possible. The Product Display is one way of achieving this as it highlighted the exhibitors' specialities," Ms Lau added.

Fabrice Meyer, representative of exhibitor Pt-Ayo-Ayo in Indonesia, said, "We met target buyers from Canada and Australia at the Fair and found some new customers as well. We were also happy about how easy it was to get to the AWE fairground. I think the June AFJ is one of the most important fairs in the industry. I will join again next year."

"I came with the goal of finding new suppliers and I met some from India. The product variety in this Fair is good, providing me with lots of choice. The products were not only of good quality but also competitively priced. The June AFJ is definitely one of the most important fairs in the industry," Carly Aitken, buying coordinator of GFA Aust Pty Ltd in Australia, commented.

Last but not least, the June edition of Asia's Fashion Jewellery and Accessories Fair 2010, as Ms Lau revealed, will take place again at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, whose expansion has brought in more exhibition space.
